Comfortable Hammock Chairs

I saw my first hammock chair about 5 years ago in Canada at a friend’s house.  She had just returned from New Orleans with this hammock chair and it was hanging in the living room.  It looked like a bunch of rope hanging there until she crawled into it, stretched it out and began swinging!  It looked like so much fun and comfort!  It was easier than it looked to get into. That is when I had my first nap in a Mayan Hanging Hammock Chair .

This hammock chair was made of 100% natural cotton rope and it was very soft. The next time I saw my friend she had the hammock chair swinging on the bow of her boat.  That is my friend Sam in the pictures on this page.  As they sailed along, she sat in the hammock chair and read.  How cool was that?   She looked very comfortable and relaxed reclining in her hammock chair.  I had to have one!

So, for Christmas a few years later, Santa brought me a Tahiti Hammock Chair.  Very similar to the Mayan Hammock Chair, this one is multi colored and I just fell in love with it!  Actually our oldest daughter and her husband bought one for my husband but what’s his is mine.  Right?  Like all rope chairs, it is great in the backyard as well as on our boat or in the house.

To put these hammock chairs on a sailboat is easy. We use the main halyard to hoist the chair then tie it off.  Then we take another line and tie it to the O ring on the top of the chair and then secure it to the front stay.  This keeps the hammock chair swinging freely in the bow area.  At anchor this is great because with the wind and the gentle rocking of the sailboat, the hammock chair swings just enough  to be very relaxing.

I can't think if a better place for a hammock than hung from between two palm trees by the ocean.  I remember being in the Bahamas on the beach and the palm tress, their trunks tall, thin and smooth, and the hammocks hung between them.  The hammocks would sway in the the light breeze, tiki torches gently lighting the area and reggae mussic in the distance.  As you sat in them, you could look out at the aqua water!  The ocean waves breaking in the backgound and the breeze lightly blowing.  It was too good to be true!  I can't wait to go back. Check out these great opportunities for booking your next vacation get-a-way.

To put these hammock chairs indoors, depending on where you want it to hang, you can use an eye bolt screwed into a ceiling joist with an 's' hook or you can use a swivel.  Hammock chairs are very compact so they are perfect if you have limited space.  They will fit into a corner in any room.  There are also C frame stands for the hammock chairs that are free standing.  C Frames at Shopzilla are frames that are easy to put together with no holes, no screws and no problem.  They also have hammocks that fit on a tow hitch and that makes them perfect for tail gate parties.  For sports fans they have ones with your favorite team logo on them.  To put hammock chairs outside, you can hang them from a tree limb, deck or balcony just like I described  it to hang from a ceiling joist.
