This keeps the certification and everything being taught concise, equal to everyone, and up to date with techniques and new equipment and new information for safety when you are underwater. Each of these organizations has a certificate you can get. PADI Scuba Diver Certificate is an easier course that will get you ready for your first dive. NAUI is more involved. Through NAUI you can advance to a master diver or a rescue diver certificate. NAUI also has certificates for night diving, underwater photography, and ice diving.
Scuba diving is a sport so you should be in pretty good shape. You have to pass a swim test to start and you must be 15 years old or older. You have to have your own mask, fins and snorkel at most courses but the rest of the equipment you can rent. The Cayman Islands offers 80-150 ft of visibility on a good day at the shallow reefs that are next to massive drop offs to a 12,000ft abyss. Florida, US is the best in North America.
